Better Together.

Binge-posting? Double-post today to make up for September.

A weekend in Toronto for OMSW. An afternoon at the Toronto Zoo. A series of pictures with my Lumix DMC-FX7 again..

Toronto Zoo, Toronto, October 2007.

I'm not so good with words.

Better Together- Jack Johnson.

There's no combination of words
I could put on the back of a postcard
No song that I could sing
But I can try for your heart,
our dreams, and they are made out of real things
like a shoebox of photographs
with sepia-toned loving
Love is the answer
at least for most of the questions in my heart, like
Why are we here? And where do we go?
And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy and
sometimes life can be deceiving
I'll tell you one thing, it's always better when we're together

Mmmm, It's always better when we're together
Yeah we'll look at the stars and we're together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeah it's always better when we're together

And all of these moments
just might find their way into my dreams tonight,
But I know that they’ll be gone
when the morning light sings
and brings new things
for tomorrow night you see
that they’ll be gone too,
too many things I have to do
But if all of these dreams might find their way
into my day to day scene
I'd be under the impression
i was somewhere in between
With only two,
Just me and you,
Not so many things we got to do
or places we got to be
We'll sit beneath the mango tree, now,

Yeah It's always better when we're together
Mmmm, we're somewhere in between together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeah, it's always better when we're together

I believe in memories
they look so, so pretty when I sleep
Hey now, and when I wake up,
you look so pretty sleeping next to me
But there is not enough time,
There is no, no song I could sing
and there is no combination of words I could say
but I will still tell you one thing
We're Better together

Ottawa

And so I skipped.. a class.. a tutorial. Feels good! I think I should skip more while I still can. If it's not mandatory, that means it's optional. It's as simple as that, why make it complicated?

Been a while since I posted another entry. Perhaps it is because I want to keep that previous post current as long as possible. Perhaps I'm just lazy. Perhaps.. perhaps..
Where do we find inspiration?

The above pictures were taken with Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX7. Can't beat the portability of that slim camera. But yes, I do prefer the feel and capability of the Nikon D-50.. and on my first official, yet fairly uninspired photoshoot in Ottawa, these are my favourite shots below. My D-50's moment to shine:

Couldn't help snapping a quick shot of what I saw there: a really free market! Interesting.

A lot of pictures of Ottawa.. and I'm sure there'll be many more to come in the upcoming years. Who could've predicted that my adventure through a viewfinder would wind up here?

Wine is Life (Part III)

Since trilogies are so popular, I'll post this final part of Wine is Life. My attempt to take "people-shots" instead of pure landscapes. I think this is my best shot:
Gray Monk Winery Vineyards, Kelowna, BC.

These other shots I find nice certainly makes Lawrence look like a photo-journalist.. don't they? (at least the first 2 of this series) :)

Right: Thornhaven Vineyards, Summerland, Okanagan.

So, as most people would ask after trilogies, which part of the Wine is Life trilogy is the best?

My answer to that is: the wines. :p

Wine is Life (Part II)

A pilgrimage up to Mission Hill..

it's like FantasyLand up there!

Mmmm.. couldn't help but devote an entire post to this winery.. :)

Wine is Life (Part I)

I didn't say that. Robert Mondavi did ("Wine is Life"). Although I must agree whole-heartedly to it. :)

Winery-hopping in Okanagan can't get any better than this.. lovely landscape, lovely weather, lovely wines, lovely companions.. can't wait to go back again to the other regions with even MORE wineries!!

A Tale of Two Cameras.

Two visits. Two nights. Two cameras. One scene. One operator.

Although I agree most pictures are 90% operator, 10% camera.. but.. it's interesting nonetheless to see.

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FX7 vs. Nikon D50. Anyone can tell which is which? Do we have a winner here?

Reminiscence of a Sunday Afternoon

One carefree Sunday afternoon at the beach.

Maybe this is the Coca-Cola side of life.

I found out one thing about myself publishing this blog post... I don't know how to spell reminiscence. =_=;

Paradise Re-visited.

See it once, love it forever.

It is the Definition of Stunning.

It is Paradise Re-visited.

It is Niagara-on-the-Lake. June 2007.

Just cannot post an entry without a vertical shot. There is something absolutely intriguing about shooting in vertical mode..

And what's better than amazing scenery? Amazing scenery + great companion.

I need to take Sunset 101. Photographing sunset 101, that is. :(

There's no place like this.. . Niagara-on-the-Lake.

New York City

Nothing says New York City better than these, don't you think?

Not the greatest shots, but, no tripod either.

+2 points again? :p

Ottawa

A little outdated, but.. this is Ottawa. 5 hour Greyhound bus ride from Toronto. A sort of unconventional shot of Parliament Building. My first expedition with Lawrence's Nikon D50. Gotta love the shutter sound. Can't stress that enough. I'm lovin' it!

Parliament Building, Ottawa, March 2007

Amazing what a frozen canal surface can look like. If I just looked at it, you can tell me it's the surface of some outer planet.
And yes I will believe it.
